Yes, but Photoshop definitely makes life easier: you can see the composition in front of you before dooming it to permanence. On that roll of film, I had quite a few accidental multiple exposures; it's tricky with a camera that doesn't remind you to wind on for every shot. Now I've made so many accidents, I've just got to work out how to do it on purpose. (And do it well)...
